Breast reduction – the body gets a new shape
Many women decide to have a breast reduction because of problems in everyday life - such as back pain, poor posture caused by it or even herniated discs. Having breasts that are too large can also put you under psychological strain. For example, because it reduces you to your sexuality and no longer feels comfortable with your body sensations.
During a breast reduction, the surgeon removes excess fat and breast tissue. There are various cutting techniques that can be used, which the doctor will discuss with you. The technique also plays a role in the later shape of the breast. As a rule, the nipple is also moved a little further up. In any case, the surgeon makes his incisions in such a way that there is as little scarring as possible.
The risks or complications of breast reduction include secondary bleeding, wound healing problems or infections. These cannot always be avoided even with the greatest care. Symptoms such as swelling, bruising or feelings of tension usually subside after a while. In the event that corrective treatments are necessary due to asymmetries or noticeable scars, we recommend that you take out follow-up cost insurance with beautyprotect. Advice on preparing for breast reduction
To prepare for your breast reduction, please follow these guidelines
Your doctor's instructions. From ours
general information Let's list the most important ones again here:
- Depending on the indication, anticoagulant medications are replaced with heparin injections about two weeks before the breast reduction.
- Please avoid taking flu medicine, painkillers and alcohol approximately two weeks before the operation. These tend to have blood-thinning properties and can result in heavier bleeding.
- Also avoid consuming tobacco or nicotine for two weeks before and up to four weeks after breast reduction.
- Do not eat anything after 10 p.m. the evening before the big day.
- On the morning of your breast reduction, we recommend that you take another shower and wash your hair.
- Do not apply creams or lotions to your upper body. Here the surgeon will later make markings with a pen, which do not stick well on oily skin.
- Make sure you have loose, comfortable clothing and wear glasses instead of contact lenses.
Organization for the time after breast reduction
Breast reduction means you will not be able to fully move your upper body after the procedure as you have to be careful with the scars, which are still very sensitive. We recommend that you arrange for a companion to pick you up from the clinic and carry your bag etc. as you cannot lift heavy. Therefore, avoid teasing your children. Before the operation, set up your home so that you have to carry out as few tasks as possible and put together comfortable clothing.
