The upper arm lift

The bottom of the upper arms is one of those areas that are difficult to reach or train with exercise. The unsightly "wavy flesh" can be easily shaped surgically. The upper arm lift removes excess skin and tissue quickly and in the long term.

The upper arm lift – waving without wobbling
The aim of an arm lift is to remove the sagging pockets of skin that have formed as a result of the natural aging process or significant weight loss. Lots of exercise and a balanced diet can go a long way towards improving the appearance of your skin. Whatever still hangs and “wobbles” is surgically tightened and strengthened.

For an upper arm lift, excess fat may first be sucked out, then the operating doctor makes an incision along the inside of the upper arm - usually from the armpit to the elbow. He removes excess fat and skin and then puts the skin areas along the incision back together. In most cases, the arm lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes between two and four hours.

After the arm lift, you will stay in the clinic for at least one day. The operation itself is relatively low-risk, but causes slight pain, swelling, redness or hematomas. The most serious after-effects include unsightly scarring or even growths. Injury to lymphatic vessels can lead to lymphatic congestion. Both complications of the upper arm lift require follow-up treatments, the costs of which you can simply pass on to us with beautyprotect insurance. Protect yourself!

Instructions for preparing for the upper arm lift
You have the best conditions for an arm lift if you are generally healthy and have previously lost weight. We explain what else you can consider below:

  • About two weeks before the breast lift, you should stop taking anticoagulant and blood-thinning medications and avoid both alcohol and nicotine.
  • The evening before your procedure, you should not eat anything after 10 p.m. in order to be fasted for the procedure.
  • On the day of the operation you should shower again and shave your armpits. However, avoid oily products, creams or lotions.
  • Ask someone close to you to give you a hand in the first few days, as you will not be able to lift heavy or put any other strain on your arms.
  • Since you should take it easy for two weeks after the upper arm lift, it is best to take a vacation in advance for this time.
What you should consider after the upper arm lift
It is important that you gently mobilize your surgically tightened arms immediately after the procedure, but you should avoid excessive strain and pressure on the sutures. Please also note the following information.

  • You will wear a pressure bandage for about two days after your arm lift to prevent swelling. Any drainage is usually removed afterwards.
  • You should wear special compression bandages that your doctor prescribes for about four to six weeks.
  • To prevent your wounds from becoming infected, please ensure adequate personal hygiene.
  • For at least six weeks you should make sure to put as little strain on your arm muscles as possible.
  • This also includes avoiding driving, exercising and heavy lifting.
  • Consistent scar care is particularly important for upper arm lifts, as the seams are slightly wider than with other aesthetic procedures and are therefore more noticeable.
  • So avoid sun or solarium for at least six months after the arm lift, as UV radiation can darken the scars.
  • You should also avoid saunas or infrared cabins for about six weeks.
